August 3rd, 1981, would be a turning point in the life of Louie Carrillo. On that date, the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Union (PATCO), under the direction of its national leadership, called a union strike against the United States Federal Government.  Other than twelve thousand destroyed careers, not much more would be accomplished by this strike.  

For ten years, Louie had enjoyed full journeyman status at three separate airports, culminating in a full journeyman, GS14 level, at the Miami International Tower and Radar Facility.  In a matter of hours, ten years of effort, dedication, and training would be reduced to ashes.

There are two ways to handle the agony of defeat; stay down for the count, or learn the lesson, stand up once again, and dream bigger than ever before. Louie chose to dream bigger than he had ever dreamed before; hence the story of “A Man With A Dream Will Not Be Denied” was born.  Louie would not be denied a chance to rebuild his life through an Amway distributorship and later, with the Network 21 organization for support and training.    

Kathy shares, “As in any other new experience, the first few years in the business were years of personal development and gained understanding. We were motivated and educated by those that came before us. The recordings, the seminars, the conventions, the associations, the books, these are the tools that kept us involved, and we grew.”

Since reaching the Diamond level, Louie and Kathy have transformed their entire lifestyle. They have traveled the world, visiting such places as Australia, New Zealand, Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, South Africa, most of Latin America, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Canada, Sweden, Finland and Lithuania: forty-seven countries in all.  Louie and Kathy have had the pleasure of meeting and sharing time with like-minded IBOs all over the world.

Louie concludes, “We can agree that income alone will never bring you happiness. However, the lack of it prevents you and your family from enjoying the beautiful things available while on this earth.
